Assistant Manager – IT Infrastructure

Job Description and Requirements
Position Summary

The Assistant Manager – Will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise, advice and consultancy for the technology and infrastructure systems. This role will manage the IT infrastructure systems and internal IT resources. Primary objective is to manage all technical incidents/Problems to closure as per Service Level Agreements (SLA). The role will encompass vendor management of external suppliers and onsite managed services employees. Also, responsible to make sure skills are developed in line with industry best practices with an aim to create efficient and effective technology environment across HCT Central Services and campuses.

Major Responsibilities


  • Provide solution expertise across IT Infrastructure (servers, storage and applications) with proven expertise in designing enterprise class IT solutions.
  • Define HCT’s Enterprise Architecture including information, security and application that supports HCT and IT strategies with the aim to facilitate the design and deployment of technology across HCT.
  • Evaluate current operational processes and recommend improvements. Develop an enterprise architecture scorecard to report key metrics on IT systems activities, progress, and results.
  • Identify areas for service improvement, increased efficiency and/or cost reduction on a regular basis.
  • Define technology standards that will enable HCT to meet its strategic objectives.
  • Ensure compatibility of the enterprise architecture with existing and new, applications/solutions, and infrastructure and business requirements.
  • Analyse the current enterprise architecture, identify areas for improvement and recommend changes when needed.
  • Collaborate with programmers and applications teams during design and development phases to ensure adherence and compatibility with architecture.
  • Define the current IT state as well the desired one; conduct a gap analysis and prioritise needs and requirements. Build and communicate a clear accurate IT roadmap.
  • Provide level 2 and 3 support as and when needed in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies that could benefit HCT’s enterprise architecture.
  • Organise, present and oversee provision of technical seminars/trainings to the IT team.
  • Prepare RFPs, proposals, scope of work reports, technical evaluation and other documentation for IT projects and associated efforts
  • Coordinate the resolution of critical P1 incidents utilizing technical resources organization and vendors.
  • Ensuring compliance policies, participating internal and external IT Audit
  • Assist in budget preparation and resource allocation for internal IT support services
  • Manage Internal IT projects from inception to completion

People Management

  • Provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates based on HCT's Performance Management System.
  • Coach and mentor subordinates on a regular basis. Mentor& coach team members to achieve organization’s Vision and Goals.
  • Contribute in an effective and efficient manner to the recruitment and development of UAE Nationals.


Academic Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information System.
  • Full English proficiency is required.

  • Strong Knowledge of Infrastructure environments including hands on experience of Servers, Storage, Virtualization, Private and public cloud.
  • Strong knowledge in Designing & Implementing redundant / high availability solution for Enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge in setting up and maintaining disaster recovery sites for large enterprise.
  • Strong Knowledge of Windows Active Directory Environments
  • Strong Knowledge of architecting, designing, implementing and maintaining at least 10 of the following Enterprise applications

                      Active Directory 2012 /2016

                      Microsoft Exchange 2016 onwards

                      Microsoft Hyper-V

                      VMware ESXi

                      Microsoft Skype for Business

                      Enterprise Monitoring Solutions

                      System Center Suite of Products including SCCM & SCOM

                      Federation services

                     Storage Area Networks

                     Private Cloud using Hyper-V & VMware ESXi

                     Public Could including Azure, AWS and related SaaS Services

                     Windows Server 2012/2016

                     Linux (Redhat, Oracle EL, Cent OS0)

                     SQL Server 2012 onwards

                     Backup Systems

                     Multifactor Authentication services
