Safety/Fire Prevention Engineer

Job Description and Requirements

As the successful candidate, you will hold a bachelor’s degree in Safety or Fire Prevention Engineering from a recognized and approved program. An internationally recognized certificate in the field of Safety such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) is a must.

You will have a minimum of 9 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in the field, including a thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, and international codes, standards, and specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following: 

  • Plan, schedule and provide work direction to implement the corporate Safety Policy and monitor compliance with all applicable Company standards, procedures, and guidelines. This includes the supervision and coordination of local surveys, reviewing safety aspects and performances.
  • Respond to concerns and requests for information from Company Loss Prevention Department or Admin Area Compliance Groups and obtain technical advices from the Loss Prevention Department in regard to the improvement of Key Performance Indices (KPIs).
  • Ensure alignment of field activities with corporate safety guidelines through providing field inspection and recommendations.
  • Recommend new installations or modifications to improve safety or compliance of existing facilities and standardization within broad fields of endeavor. 
  • Review work of engineers directed. Check that reports are written according to established methods of good report presentation. Take recommendations for further study or report changes. Approve reports for transmittal to supervisor.
  • Lead and participate in Risk Assessment Studies and Hazard Identification Plans to ensure safety of facilities and personnel.
  • Track compliance and provide alternatives to ensure safety recommendations are implemented across the department’s facilities.
  • Develop the scope of work for contractors and third parties to support compliance of facilities safety aspects and requirements in line with corporate recommendations. This will include initiating detailed work outlines and making decision as to basic approaches, processes and/or equipment.
  • Perform work and/or delegate work to other engineers for the final development of specialized or technical proposals and proposed projects.
