Shelter Assistant

These attitudes and beliefs shall guide our actions and relationships.  The reception assistant will be responsible for facilitating the accommodation of refugees referred to Zaatari reception area by stockholders. The candidates should have very good communication skills and able to perform well under pressure. 

Duties and responsibilities

Generic Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action. 
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC. 

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit daily report to relevant reception area stakeholders as assigned by the supervisor
  • Daily supervision of beneficiaries staying at the reception area as assigned by the supervisor including facilitating access for refugees staying in the reception area to basic services and flag any cases requiring further follow up with reception area partners to the supervisor
  • Daily supervision of incentive based volunteers (IBV) as assigned by the supervisor 
  • Direct management of RA stock and distribution processes as assigned by the supervisor
  • Input information related to referrals in tracking database 
     
Qualifications
  • Experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context. 
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts. 
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities. 
  • Some knowledge of English. 
Personal qualities
  • 2-year Experience working with shelter projects in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • proficiency in computer skills.

- Contract period: 12 months, renewal subject to positive performance and funding
- Salary/benefits: 719 JOD "subject to social security". 
- Duty station:  Za'atari Camp
